Equipment Introduction

Trommel Screen Description:
GREENSORT Trommel screen is a low-speed rotary screening machine. It performs material classification, impurity removal and separation through the rotation of the cylindrical drum and the screen mesh mounted on the barrel. It is widely used in solid waste treatment production lines for construction waste, municipal solid waste, aged landfill waste, sand and aggregate, recycled metal, tailings, gangue and other materials.

The main structure:
The equipment mainly consists of rotary drum body, segmented screen panels, support roller assembly, driving unit, base frame, sealing housing and other core components. Featuring robust construction and stable operation, it can work under heavy-load, high-dust and high-throughput working conditions.
Segmented Rotary Drum Body
The drum body is fabricated with thick steel plates. Segmented screen panels with different aperture sizes can be arranged along the barrel to realize multi-stage grading. Wear-resistant perforated steel screen panels adopt modular design for easy disassembly and replacement. Round holes, elongated holes and other hole patterns can be customized on demand.
Support Roller Driving System Friction drive by support rollers is adopted.
The rotary drum rests on multiple sets of wear-resistant polyurethane support rollers, delivering smooth transmission and low noise. Compared with traditional gear drive, it avoids frequent wear and material jamming failures and provides high load capacity, suitable for heavy-duty large-diameter trommels.
Integrated Rigid Base Frame
The machine is equipped with an integrated steel base with pre-assembly finished in factory. Only leveling and fixing are required on site for quick installation. Reinforced stiffeners are applied to the frame to resist impact and vibration, preventing deformation under long-term heavy load.
Optional Fully Enclosed Housing
A fully enclosed housing is available to suppress dust emission and meet environmental protection requirements. Reserved feeding opening and multi-stage discharging outlets facilitate connection with front crushers and rear conveying equipment.

Working Principle:
Materials are fed into the inclined rotary drum from the feed end. As the drum rotates at constant low speed, materials tumble and move forward inside the barrel. Particles smaller than the screen aperture pass through the screen and fall down, while large-size materials continue moving forward along the drum and are discharged from the outlet end. Automatic grading of materials with different sizes is achieved.
The drum operates at low speed with mild material tumbling, which reduces impact wear on screen panels and effectively prevents screen blinding. It performs better than vibrating screens when processing sticky and moist materials.
Technical Specification:

Features:
Large throughput, ideal for coarse screening: Able to accept direct feeding of large lump materials, commonly used for front-end pretreatment and separation.
Strong anti-blinding performance: Low-speed rotary structure ensures stable screening effect even for moist and muddy materials.
Easy maintenance: Modular screen panels; support rollers and bearings are accessible for inspection, and wearing parts can be replaced conveniently.
Smooth operation & low failure rate: No vibration excitation source, lower requirement for foundation civil work, and lower noise than vibrating screens.
Flexible configuration: Single-layer / multi-layer screening and multi-section variable-aperture screen panels are customizable. Open-type or fully enclosed environmental-friendly models are optional.
Typical Application Scenarios:
1. Classification of recycled aggregate from construction waste; separation of soil, brick and concrete blocks.
2. Screening of municipal solid waste, aged landfill waste and mineralized landfill waste to separate humus soil and bulky debris.
3. Pre-screening of sand, river pebble, tailings, gangue and stone aggregates.
4. Size classification of scrap steel, metal waste and furnace slag.
Optional Accessories:
Internal anti-blinding device (rubber brushes, material lifting plates) to further reduce material sticking and screen blockage.
Stainless steel drum body and screen panels for materials requiring corrosion resistance.
Variable frequency drive system to adjust drum rotation speed for different materials.
Fully enclosed dust-proof housing and spray dust suppression interface to satisfy environmental standards.

Position of Trommel Screen in Metal Recycling Line
The trommel screen is generally installed after primary shredding and before magnetic separation / eddy current separation / air separation. Process flow: Raw material → Primary Shredder → Trommel Screen → Magnetic Separator → Eddy Current Separator
Function: The trommel screen separates fine soil, dust and small debris as undersize material. Oversize materials containing metals are conveyed to downstream sorting equipment. It removes dirt covering metal scraps, improves sorting efficiency, and protects precision separation equipment from abrasion by fine grit.
Optional layout: Trommel screen can also be placed ahead of the shredder for pre-screening when raw materials contain massive soil and fine impurities.
